Make your Move to S/4HANA a Reality

In today’s digital economy, technology is rapidly evolving and changes are seen to occur in enterprises and their business processes. Organizations have also transformed their ways of action to adapt to the increasing demands in simplicity and flexibility both on business processes and practices. This is where the shift to an Intelligent Enterprise mindset comes in.

NTT DATA is running a three-part webinar series to help companies make the move to S/4HANA a reality. The Part I of the webinar series which highlighted what success looks like moving to SAP S/4HANA has been held last November 17. This coming December 1 (Register here), we are hosting the Part II which will focus on the technical aspects of changing over to S/4HANA and why the changeover makes business sense right now.

To give you an overview in case you missed the first webinar, Reimund Lips, Global Director Head of Global Digital Practices - S/4HANA Transition, discussed three scenarios and the drivers for each one to clients to move their businesses to S/4HANA. Below is a summary of the scenarios.

Which scenario best describes your current business situation?

  1. New Implementation/Re-Implementation – This approach entails reengineering and process simplification based on latest innovations. If your business is dealing with heavy changes of organizational structures, Lots of inconsistent data, outdated add-ons or business functions, and outdated processes, it is recommended to implement SAP best-practice content on a new platform and retire the old one.

  2. System Conversion – This option involves a complete technical in-place conversion of an existing SAP Business Suite ERP system to S/4HANA. The move preserves historic data, allows for limited business involvement, limited change management, and is cost effective.

  3. Selective Data Transition – Selective Data Transition is a value driven data migration to the new platform. For example, a company wants to consolidate the current SAP Business Suite landscape into one global SAP S/4HANA system of selective data migration based on legal entities. Option three is optimal for mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings.

The webinar then took a closer look at option #2, System Conversion, and provided three more incentives for going with S/4HANA.

  • Keep Configuration and Data – According to Reimund Lips, companies can bring existing business processes to the new platform while maintaining existing configurations and data.

  • Keep Data History and Custom Code – Clients can move data history to the new platform and adjust their custom code to S/4HANA.

  • Build the foundation for Innovation – There is an opportunity to create a platform for future innovations. Additionally, clients can carry out further innovations in downstream projects.

NTT DATA’s role in helping customers make the move to S/4HANA starts by providing a detailed assessment with definitive, fact-based insights into a client’s existing SAP system. It then offers predictable pricing and condensed timeframes with all packaged move to S/4HANA.
